La Guacamaya

Description
It is a beautiful waterfall, approximately 50 feet (15 metres) high. Its capricious formation and many-coloured waters fall graciously over the basaltic rocks below.

There is a beautiful forest near the waterfall that is an ideal spot for a stroll and picnics. It is strongly recommended to take pictures of the region, since it is a rewarding experience. If you are interested in entering the forest, we recommend you hire a local guide.


Location
• Villa de Etla: Is located 9 miles (15 kilometres) Northwest of the City of Oaxaca via highway 190 to Mexico City. Approximate travel time: [0:30]
La Guacamaya Waterfall is located 9 miles (15 kilometres) northwest from Villa de Etla, through a small dirt road. After crossing San Miguel y San Gabriel Etla, you will find La Guacamaya straight ahead. Birds responsible for this waterfall’s name can be spotted.
