El Estudiante and La Azucena

Description
There are two irrigation reservoirs fed by the "El Estudiante" (Student) River. These bodies of water form a beautiful landscape that blends with the Sierra Juárez forest and into de Valley of Oaxaca. Given its proximity to the City, and especially because of its peacefulness, it is an ideal picnic place.

Restaurant and boat rental services are available. Swimming is not recommended because of irregular slope and muddy areas, which have caused distressing accidents.

Location
• San Andrés Huayapan: Is located 5 miles (8 kilometres) Northeast of the City of Oaxaca via highway 190 to the Isthmus. When you reach the Juárez monument, turn left at the detour to continue on highway 175. After 2.5 miles (4 kilometres) turn left again on the detour to Huayapan. Approximate travel time: [0:15]
